SmartWatch

After nearly a year of umming and ahing about whether or not to get one, I finally bit the bullet and bought a LG G Watch R. I can't say it's a critical, life changing device but it is surprisingly handy.

It's dramatically reduced the amount of times I have to pull my largish mobile phone out of my pocket as well as been a conversation starter when people realise it isn't your bog standard digital watch - providing the opportunity for me to say "yeah, it's smart" and demonstrate it's power by playing ' Flopsy Droid ' (based on Flappy Birds).

Anyway, here's my top five reasons to get one:

Easily check notifications & messages regularly

I don't necessarily check my phone that often - for instance when it's in my pocket or more than an arms length away - but with my Smart Watch I get notifications on my wrist making it easy to see if an important message has come through. End result is I'm always up to date with what's going on from a glance.

Phone Controls - Music, WiFi, Hotspot, Vibrate Mode, Phone Finder

I've been regularly using my watch to control music and turn the WiFi Hotspot on/off using a Wear App - which is actually far easier than doing it on my phone. It's also pretty handy to turn off WiFi on the go when I don't need it and want to save battery. I also find the 'Phone finding' apps useful for when my phone gets lost in the house.

Voice Controls - Reminders and Timers

Previously I barely used the voice command features on my phone as it meant getting it out, unlocking it, opening Google search and pressing the voice command button.  With my smart watch it's a tap of the watch face and say what I want - pretty handy when I need to be reminded when to put the dinner on. Although background noise sometimes means the trying the voice command again the watch is actually quite resilient to it overall.

Mix up your watch face

It's quite nice to be able to change around the watch face when I get bored of one. The choice means I can pick a face I like the most - for instance the one with the clear bold text telling the time...

Smart watches are cool

'Face it' (pun intended), traditional watches are what your Dad wears. Having a smart watch is far more modern.
